Felton man loses part of leg in motorcycle crash

Ralston has motorcycle insurance and health insurance, but as of Wednesday, Williams said her family had not heard from the pickup driver's insurance company. The pickup driver stayed at the crash scene, authorities said.

David Ralston, of Fenton, was riding a motorcycle near Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park on Highway 9 when a Mazda pickup driver turned left in front of him and the two collided, according to the California Highway Patrol. Ralston was thrown from his motorcycle, and he flew over a guardrail and suffered a severe right leg injury that required amputation below the knee. He is now required to use a walker.
