Woman dies after crash on Monterey-Salinas Highway
A 35-year-old Salinas woman died Friday when her vehicle collided into a pickup, the California Highway Patrol said.
While the crash is still under investigation, the CHP believes a white Mazda pickup that was traveling east on the Monterey-Salinas Highway struck a white 2004 Suzuki SUV heading westbound. According to the CHP, the SUV left its traffic lane and headed into an eastbound lane, in the direct path of the pickup.
The pickup hit the left side of the Suzuki and the vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane. Emergency personnel arrived and pronounced Deysi C. Jimenez, the driver of the SUV, dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
