City of Indio Police Department, Cal Fire – Riverside, and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 4:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a collision with entrapment, according to officials.

Three of the victims sustained major injuries, while the two others suffered moderate injuries, officials said. All five were taken to a hospital, with one taken by helicopter.
