Small Plane Crashes In Amador County, Killing 2

The crash site is in a rural field two miles north of the airport where the plane is believed to have taken off.

Deputies and fire crews found a single-engine plane with two victims at the scene. Their names were not immediately released pending notification of family.

Amador County Undersheriff James Wegner tells the Sacramento Bee  Phillip Faillers, of Sutter Creek, was returning to the county on Wednesday for Christmas after picking up his 27-year-old son, Alex, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Two people were killed in a plane crash in Amador County near the town of Sutter Creek, California. It is not yet known what caused the Cessna 172 to crash in the 12000 block of Shake Ridge Road. The identities of the two people who died have not yet been released.
