Charles Anthony Sanfilippo II, 27, killed, after losing control of his motorcycle, on E Street in Chula Vista, and crashing into a light pole.

A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday in Chula Vista after he drove off the roadway and hit a light pole.

The 27-year-old man was on E Street at Toyon Lane about 2:10 a.m. when he lost control of the Suzuki bike, Chula Vista police said.

The Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Charles Anthony Sanfilippo II of Chula Vista. The agency said he was going west when he swerved and hit a pole along the south curb.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.

The rider died of his injuries while en route to the hospital, police said.
