Driver killed in El Cajon traffic collision

One driver was killed and another was injured in a collision Thursday at the intersection of Wichita and East Washington avenues, El Cajon police said.

A vehicle heading eastbound on Washington collided broadside with a vehicle headed northbound about 2:20 p.m., police said. Both vehicles had significant damage, he said.

The driver of the northbound vehicle died at the scene. The other driver was transported to a hospital with significant injuries that are not life-threatening.

The cause of the collision is being investigated. Neither alcohol, drugs nor speed appear to have been factors.
