A La Mesa man killed Sunday evening when the off-road vehicle he was driving rolled over and crashed has been identified as Erik Scott Decker, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
A La Mesa man killed Sunday evening when the off-road vehicle he was driving rolled over and crashed has been identified as Erik Scott Decker, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Decker, 33, was traveling alone in a residential area of unincorporated El Cajon when he drove a Polaris RZR all-terrain vehicle from a dirt road to the asphalt on Snow View Drive near Highway 80, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday. The Polaris overturned, partially throwing Decker from the driver’s seat and pinning him underneath the vehicle. A resident in the area heard the crash and called authorities about 6:25 p.m. Police and paramedics arrived and found Decker had been killed. Gilbert said Sunday that the driver appeared to have died from head injuries. He said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.
