Motorcyclist, 55, killed in single vehicle crash in San Diego on May 25.

A motorcyclist died early Sunday in a solo vehicle crash on a San Diego surface street when he struck a planter, a police officer said.

The crash occurred at 2:05 a.m. at Normal and Washington streets, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

"A 55-year-old male lost control of his motorcycle and struck a planter. He was pronounced dead at the scene," Stafford said. "Alcohol is not a factor in the collision."

The crash remained under investigation, he said.
