27-year-old man killed, after his motorcycle goes out of control on State Route 76 near Santa Ysabel, and crashes into a boulder, throwing him onto the roadway.

A motorcyclist died in a crash on state Route 76 west of Lake Henshaw Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash was reported about 5:20 p.m. and happened west of East Grade Road, a Cal Fire Battalion Chief said.

A 27-year-old Escondido man was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson Breakout westbound when he entered a curve, veered to the right and hit some dirt, causing him to lose control of the bike, a California Highway Patrol Officer said.

The rider slammed into a boulder and was thrown from the motorcycle. He died at the scene.

Police said investigators don’t yet know how fast the man was going or if he might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
