Pickup hits and kills boy walking at night on Lake County highway
The boy, believed to be younger than 13, was walking about 3:30 a.m., headed north alongside Highway 29, said CHP Officer Kory Reynolds. Driver Eugene John Odell Jr., 38, of Kelseyville, was going to work on the dark rural highway south of Highland Springs Road. Odell struck something with his pickup, and, assuming it was an animal, he stopped to check, Reynolds said.
