Authorities identify 50-year-old woman killed in Oakland hit-and-run crash

Oakland police Officer J. Moore said police do not have a description of the suspect or the car involved in the collision.

Williams came from Albuquerque when she heard the news and says Howell was a practicing Buddhist, living a peaceful life. "Her belief is that you just don't cause harm to anyone else. You go through life and don't cause harm to anyone else," she said.
A woman who died following a pedestrian collision with a car in Oakland Saturday is identified as Celeste Howell, 50. The crash occurred in the 800 block of Pine Street at 2:21 p.m. Howell was pronounced deceased at the crash site.The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police ask for the public's help in providing any information about the crash or the driver.
