A 77-year-old Danville man died around 9 a.m. after ramming into two vehicles before careening off a freeway and plowing into a vacant house in Pleasant Hill, officials said.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was heading southbound on Interstate 680 in a Ford pickup truck when he suddenly swerved right and struck two other vehicles just south of Monument Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol in Contra Costa County.

The crash happened during commute traffic, and cars were traveling no faster than 15 mph at the time, according to the CHP.
