Police investigate fatal accident on San Francisco's Market Street near Sutter Street
Both directions of Market Street between Battery and Sutter streets have reopened after being shut down for several hours while police were on the scene. Officials said the bicyclist was not in a bike lane or shared lane, but was riding between two busses and made contact with one of them. People aboard busses were offloaded and questioned to see if they saw anything.Investigators are working to find out how the bicyclist made contact with the bus.

At 4:39 p.m., San Francisco police officer Grace Gutpandan posted on Twitter that she was on her way to the traffic collision at the 500 block of Market Street.

Heryer died when he went under one of the bus tires, police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan said. Gatpandan said police will be conducting a thorough investigation and that officers are reviewing surveillance video and witness statements.
