A woman was killed when she was hit by a Union Pacific freight train on Saturday, February 14, after she wandered onto the train tracks while talking on her cellphone, near the Amtrak Station in Goleta at about 11:15 a.m. The woman, identified as Suzanne Worsham, 49, was visiting a friend at a nearby homeless camp. The train was traveling at about 60 mph at the time of the crash. The train conductor stated that he sounded his horn several times prior to the collision.
