Two car head-on crash on S.R. 32 sends unknown number of people to hospital with serious injuries.

Several people were injured in a serious two-car crash on Route 32 Thursday night, officials said. The two vehicles crashed head-on and one of the vehicles rolled over, police said. At least one person had to be extricated from the vehicle, state police said. Several occupants were taken by ambulance to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. The extent of their injuries was unknown as of Thursday night. Route 32 was closed in the area of the crash, near the Norwich town line and Saint Bernard High School, for more than an hour. A state Department of Transportation email alert advised motorists in that area to seek alternate routes.
