A St. Augustine bicyclist died Sunday morning on Florida A1A in St. Johns County. Susan Lantz, 62, was traveling north on the shoulder of Florida A1A at 9 a.m. when she crossed into the northbound lane into the path of a car driven by John S. Gongla, 62, of Elkton. Gongla tried to avoid hitting her but his car collided with the bicycle and Lantz suffered fatal injuries.
