Luis Maiquez, 40, crashes vehicle into truck, flees scene, alcohol suspected near Taft Street and University Drive in Pembroke Pines, Florida

According to a police report, Maiquez crashed into a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu at Taft Street and University Drive about 2:30 a.m. on May 6. Luis Maiquez, 40, of Miramar, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and multiple DUI-related offenses, including third DUI offense within 10 years. He said Kazi identified Maiquez as the driver and Maiquez himself told investigators he got behind the wheel because he couldn't get a ride from anyone else. A motorist suspected of drunken driving after drinking four pitchers of beer ran away from a crash site in Pembroke Pines and was found dozing off nearby, police said. Maiquez darted out of his 2000 Jeep Cherokee, jumped over a gate and was later found by police bloodied and snoozing on the grass off Johnson Street and University Drive, authorities said.
