A deadly crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a vehicle shut down traffic at Linton Boulevard and Congress Avenue in Delray Beach Thursday.

A deadly crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a vehicle shut down traffic at Linton Boulevard and Congress Avenue in Delray Beach Thursday.

At 10:45 a-m, northbound train P618 struck a car at the Linton Blvd crossing, according to a Tri-Rail spokeswoman.

According to Delray Beach Fire Rescue, the driver was heading eastbound on Linton and was the only passenger in the car. The driver died at the scene.

At least seven Tri-Rail passengers complained of minor injuries and were transported for treatment, fire rescue said.

The other passengers were taken by bus to the next train stop to continue their journey.

Linton is still closed between I-95 and Congress Avenue, and could be shut through rush hour.

Drivers cannot exit southbound from I-95 to Linton because crews are still working to get the train up and running.
