Witness and police nab driver who ran from fatal crash
Calderon faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and driving without a valid license. He was booked into Palm Beach County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.

At the scene, officials drew blood from Calderon about an hour after the crash. His blood-alcohol level came back as .235, nearly three times more than the legal limit of .08. When his blood was drawn five hours later, it read more than twice the legal limit at .171, the sheriff’s office said.

On Thursday, their families sat at opposite ends of a courtroom during a bond hearing for Calderon. Calderon’s mother and two of his relatives and Plaza’s parents and siblings never crossed paths as court deputies kept them apart, but in that moment, they had more in common than they may have realized.
