Albert Garcia-Cruz, 26, suffers minor injuries, arrested, after crashing is car into a home in Palm Beach County.
Man faces charges after crashing truck into Lake Worth home.
After he was released from JFK Hospital with minor injuries from crashing his car into a home in Lake Worth, Albert Garcia-Cruz was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday.
Garcia-Cruz, 26, faces a moving traffic violation because he did not have a driver’s licence.
The accident happened around 7 a.m. Monday at a home off of Sixth Avenue South and South Street, where two people partner were sleeping. They were uninjured, but the foyer at the front of their home was destroyed.
Garcia-Cruz originally told Palm Beach County Sheriff officers he was chasing two men who stole his wallet when the car he was chasing ran his truck off the road. Witnesses of the crash did not see another car but did note Garcia-Cruz was driving very fast.
When officers spoke to him at a later date, he told them he had been up all night drinking, though he could not remember what happened. He said he woke up without a shirt between Dixie Highway and Federal Highway along Sixth Avenue. He said he found his car and began driving but must have fallen asleep at the wheel when he hit the house.
He was released on his own recognizance on Monday.
