Karen Andreae, arrested for DUI, after rear-ending a Metro transit bus in Palm Beach Gardens. No injuries reported.

Palm Beach Gardens Police arrested a woman on charges of property damage and driving under the influence after she admitted to officers she had been drinking prior to a crash with a metro bus.

Officers responded to PGA Boulevard and Campus Drive for a crash involving a metro bus that had been rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Karen Andreae of North Palm Beach.

Arriving officers said Andreae was wearing a St. Patty's Day hat, beads around her neck and a St. Patty's day shirt. Officers also noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Andreae's mouth and noted that she had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

The driver of the bus told officers she stopped her bus and Andreae crashed into the rear. No one was on the bus at the time of the incident. When officers asked Andreae if she had been drinking they say she responded, "It was St. Patty's Day, of course I was drinking. I had three drinks."

Andreae was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail without incident.
