A Port St. Lucie man was arrested on Thursday for leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, after he allegedly rammed into a car an ex-roommate was riding in, authorities said.
Joseph Day and Ashley Biasetti told Port St. Lucie Police that Biasetti’s ex-roommate, Bryan Douglas Dotts, had smashed into the car they were in then drove away, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Biasetti said that she went to a Walmart with Dotts, 50, but got out of his car and jumped into Day’s vehicle.
Biasetti told police that as she and Day left, Dotts went “crazy” and started chasing Day’s vehicle with his car.
Both Day and Biasetti claimed that Dotts rammed their car 3-4 times before he left the scene, according to police.
Dotts was pulled over by police at the 9000 block of South U.S. Highway 1. Dotts said that he had given Biasetti $250 for items she needed to purchase, but that Biasetti “flipped him off” and said she wasn’t going to re-pay the money.
Dotts admitted he followed Day’s car and came into contact with the vehicle once, but added it happened because Day had quickly braked while Dotts’ car was close behind, the report said.
There was no injuries due to the crash and Day’s car sustained minor damage. Dotts was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
