Briana Lawson 15, killed, driver Andrea Lynn Colletti 18, seriously injured after she lost control of pickup at intersection and crashed into concrete pole.

A 15 year old is dead and a 18 year old was rushed to a local trauma center after a single-vehicle accident in front of the Crystal Lake Elementary School in suburban Stuart, said a spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.

The accident happened around 3:16 p.m. when the vehicle crashed against a concrete pole in front of the school at 2095 SW 96th Street, Killane said. Investigators say the driver of the vehicle attempted to stop a traffic light when she lost control and began to spin clockwise.

The 15-year-old, identified as Briana Lawson of Stuart, was a passenger in the car and died at the scene. The 18-year-old driver was taken to Martin Memorial Hospital South with non-life-threatening injuries, said a police Sgt. spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol. The driver has been identified as Andrea Lynn Colletti of Stuart.

Police said an FHP team is on scene investigating the accident.
