Mark Slown: Bicyclist killed after colliding with vehicle in Stuart
A 33-year-old bicycle rider died after colliding with a vehicle late Saturday just north of the Roosevelt Bridge, according to Stuart police.
Police went to the crash at U.S. 1 and Wright Boulevard about 11:20 p.m. Saturday. Mark Slown, the bicycle rider, was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, where he was pronounced dead.
Slown, of Port St. Lucie, collided with a four-door Mercury.
Slown was traveling north on U.S. 1 while the Mercury headed south, said Officer Brian Bossio, Stuart police spokesman. The crash happened as the driver of the Mercury made a left turn onto Wright Boulevard.
The incident was not a hit-and-run situation, and no one was arrested in connection with the case, Bossio said.
There were no indications the Mercury driver was impaired.
