Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says when units arrived they found the aircraft partially submerged in a lake and one person dead inside the cockpit.

One person died in the plane crash this afternoon in the 2900 block of Greenbriar Boulevard. The plane is a single-engine aircraft, said Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman Capt. Albert Borroto.

Leonard W. McGarity, Jr., 58, is the pilot who died Monday after his experimental plane crashed in Wellington, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said today.
One person, later identified as Leonard W. McGarity, 58, died in the plane crash this afternoon in the 2900 block of Greenbriar Boulevard. The plane is a single-engine experimental aircraft, said a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman Capt.
The crash happened around 12:55 p.m.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews and Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies are at the scene.
