86-year-old woman killed in hit-and-run crash in Bensenville

An 86-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Bensenville, police said.Modesta De La Rosa was allegedly struck by a Ford pickup truck in the 1000-block of West Irving Park Road around 7:30 a.m. Friday, police said. The truck was making a right turn from a Dunkin' Donuts when it struck De La Rosa, who was walking west on the sidewalk in front of the truck, police said.The vehicle did not stop and continued on Irving Park Road, police said.De La Rosa was pronounced dead a short time later at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact Bensenville police at 630-350-3455.

Bensenville woman killed in hit-and-run

An 86-year-old Bensenville women was struck and killed Friday morning by a hit-and-run driver as she walked in front of a drive-through restaurant. De La Rosa was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. "The driver went from a complete stop, accelerated, turned right, hit her and never slowed down," Kosman said. Kosman said several witnesses were able to provide police with a description of the truck. He said police also are attempting to get security camera footage from the surrounding area.

Police: Driver in fatal Bensenville crash faces charges

The driver of a truck that struck and killed an 86-year-old woman outside a Bensenville Dunkin' Donuts last week now faces charges, Bensenville police said. De La Rosa was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Livadic was initially interviewed and released without charges being filed, although police have impounded the truck. Police Chief Frank Kosman said officers were able to identify the driver and his truck after reviewing surveillance footage from the area and speaking to several witnesses. Kosman declined to say what, if any, explanation the driver has provided to police.
