Metra BNSF Trains Stalled At Congress Park Station After Person Is Hit By Train

Trains headed both east and west were stalled. Some BNSF trains that were scheduled to depart from Union Station Friday afternoon also will not run.

A westbound Metra train running express on Feb. 4 from Union Station and scheduled to stop at the Congress Park station in Brookfield at 4:23 p.m. has fatally struck a person at the Prairie Avenue crossing.

Kuehlem, 27, was hired as Brookfield’s village planner in April 2021. It was a homecoming of sorts for Kuehlem, who served as an intern in the village’s Community and Economic Development Department during the summer of 2017 shortly after graduating with a degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
