According to investigators, the man was walking in one of the parking lot aisles toward the store when he was hit by a Chrysler 200 that was backing out of a parking spot.

Robert Krenek, 86, of Rockford, has been identified as the man who died Friday after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the North Alpine Road and East Riverside Boulevard Wal-Mart Supercenter.
A preliminary investigation by police showed Krenek was walking toward the store sometime before 3:30 p.m. when he was hit by a Chrysler 200 backing out of a parking space. He fell to the pavement and struck his head.
