A 32-year-old Versailles man was killed and two others were injured in a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on State Road 129 just north of County Road 300 North in Ripley County.

Officials say a 2001 Dodge Minivan, driven by Zachary Smith, was heading north on Ind. 129 when it left the road, drove into a ditch and overturned several times. Smith and front seat passenger Jessie Windell, 54, of Versailles, were ejected from the car as it rolled.

Windell, Smith, and another passenger, Casey Sentell, 23, of Versailles, were taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.

Smith was pronounced dead in an ambulance on its way to the hospital.

Sentell and Windell were treated for back and neck pain.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. They do not believe weather was a factor.
