Woman killed in head-on crash after swerving to avoid animal

Eva Smalley, 49, was driving northbound in the 2100 block of South State Street, also known as Ind. 9, at about 8:30 a.m., when crossed the center line in order to miss an animal.
Eva Smalley was killed in a crash on Ind. 9 in Hancock County on Tuesday morning when she tried to avoid striking an animal in the road and swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a truck. The driver of the truck did not have time to avoid the crash.
