Indianapolis-area trooper hit by alleged drunk driver

Trooper Keith was stopped on I-65 near 30th Street helping a driver change their flat tire. Because of the area where the driver was stopped, a second trooper came to help with traffic control. As Trooper Keith finished up, a Chevrolet Equinox was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, crashed into the median barrier, and hit Trooper Keith and then his police car, according to a release by ISP.

State Trooper Azariah Keith is expected to recover after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday night. The incident occurred while Keith was helping someone with a tire change on I-65. Police say the person who was driving the car that hit Keith was drunk at the time of the incident.
