Two-semi crash on Kansas Turnpike near Emporia leaves 39-year-old Wichita man dead
A Wichita semi truck driver died Tuesday morning after two semis collided on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia.
Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday the driver of a semi truck slowed southwest of Emporia, because of a pedestrian standing near the roadway. Another semi, driven by Michael Lyden, 39, of Wichita, collided with the rear of the first semi. The collision caused Lyden’s truck to catch fire, and he died from his injuries. The other driver, Michael Daniely, 58, of Raytown, Mo., and the pedestrian, were not injured.
