Car strikes pole near S.W. 21st and Topeka; no injuries reported

No injuries were reported from the crash, but a Shawnee County dispatcher said Westar Energy was called to the scene because of low-hanging power lines that touched the ground in one place.
Traffic near a central Topeka intersection was partially blocked Saturday night after a car hit a utility pole. Police and fire personnel arrived just after 9 p.m. to the crash, which occurred just north of S.W. 21st and Topeka Boulevard. No injuries were reported from the crash, but a Shawnee County dispatcher said Westar Energy was called to the scene because of low-hanging power lines that touched the ground in one place. As of 9:45 p.m., fire trucks had left the scene as a Westar employee continued to repair the power lines.
