Kansas father killed, wife and young children injured in accident with semi-truck

A Kansas father was killed and his wife and their young children were injured after their vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck Wednesday night in Pottawatomie County.

 

One killed, 4 injured in crash east of Wamego

It happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. near Highway 24 and Airport Road. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a pickup carrying four individuals was eastbound on the highway waiting to make a left turn. An SUV slowed from behind as it approached the turning truck, when a Midwest Concrete semi truck plowed into both vehicles from behind.

Truck driver charged in August fatal crash that killed Wamego man and son

Pottawatomie County Attorney Sherri Schuck confirmed to KMAN in an email Monday, that 44-year-old Mark Stanwix, of Lecompton, is charged with six felonies, including two counts of involuntary manslaughter, three counts of aggravated battery, as well as a single count of obstruction.

Survivors of August fatal crash file suit against Manhattan concrete company, truck driver

The suit alleges Stanwix was using his phone while driving the company’s truck prior to it plowing into a pickup and SUV Aug. 11 near Highway 24 and Airport Road.
