LaDale Washington Jr., 7, seriously injured after being stuck by semi near Linwood Park in south Wichita, Kansas
7-year-old hit by semi in south Wichita remains critical
Officers say the boy, now identified by friends as LaDale Washington Jr., was playing catch at Linwood Park when he reached into the street for a football and was hit by a truck. He suffered a massive head injury and was rushed to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital. "For a 50 pound kid to go against up against a 2,000 pound semi-truck, the odds were against him, so for him to be here is a miracle. So we're just holding on to that," said A.J. Bohannon, Washington's football coach. Outside the hospital where Washington is recovering, hundreds gathered to say prayers for the young boy.
