David C. Bean Jr., 29, killed, and Eli H. Johnson, 23, injured in car collision with disabled semi truck on Interstate 135 in Wichita, Kansas

A 29-year-old Wichita man died Tuesday night when the car he was driving struck a parked semi on the shoulder of an interstate highway in Wichita, authorities said. A passenger in the car, a 2013 four-door Kia Rio, was reported injured in the crash, which occurred at 9:48 p.m. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt. the driver of the parked 2007 Peterbilt semi-trailer was identified as Travis A. Adkins, 41, of Barnes City, Iowa. The passenger was identified as Eli H. Johnson, 23, also of Wichita, was reported possibly injured. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.
