43-year-old man killed, after his car moves into the on-coming traffic lane of I-275 near Petersburg, and collides with a tractor-trailer.

A crash on Interstate 275 closed part of the highway for more than two hours.

The crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car happened in the eastbound lanes on or near the Carroll Cropper bridge between Kentucky and Indiana just before 11 a.m.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office said a 43-year-old Mason man was driving in the left lane when he lost control and his car moved to the right, into the path of a tractor-trailer.

The truck hit the car broadside, forcing it off the road.

The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Eastbound lanes were closed soon after the crash. One lane reopened just before 12:30 a.m., and the remaining lane opened at 1:45 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
