School bus crash in Amherst; wires knocked down

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Henry Street in Amherst is still shut down after a school bus went off the road and struck a utility pole around 1:30 Monday afternoon, knocking down wires in the crash. Amherst Police Lt. Ronald Young says that there were students on the bus at the time, but no injuries were reported. The children were brought back to the Fort River Elementary School to be reunited with their parents. Henry Street remains closed to traffic as police investigate. Eversource is also on Henry Road, working to remove that utility pole from the area and restore power. 14 homes lost power due to this crash. The bus driver’s name is not being released at this time.
