Police have identified the woman who was killed in a hit and run in Jersey City Thursday night.

A woman was killed in an apparent hit and run accident in Jersey City Thursday evening.
A woman was killed in an apparent hit and run accident in Jersey City Thursday evening. At around 6:45 p.m., a Hudson County Sheriff's Prisoner Transport Bus was on its way back to headquarters after dropping prisoners off at the Correctional Facility. The Sheriff's Officers saw the body of a woman lying on the side of Routes 1 and 9 North near Duncan Avenue, the victim of an apparent hit and run. The Crash Reconstruction Unit is at the scene investigating. A bicycle was found near the woman's body so she may have been riding a bicycle when she was struck. Routes 1 and 9 North is closed between Communipaw and Sip Avenues. The woman is an adult, but has not been identified until her family can be notified. UPDATE: The victim of this accident has been identified a Ayako Okabe, 30, from Japan. 02/25/14.
