Fatal accident on U.S. 54 closes the highway south of Carrizozo for hours Tuesday
The accident occurred at Mile Marker 118, about 17 miles inside Lincoln County from its boundary with Otero County, he said.
One person was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extracted, and apparently, was the fatality. The injured person was transported to Gerald Champion Hospital in Alamogordo, when an air flight was not available, he said.
