Española mother, boyfriend face charges in crash that injured 5-year-old
An Española mother and her boyfriend are facing charges in a car crash that ejected and seriously injured a 5-year-old girl. Christian Veliz-Vasquez and Adilene Mingura face charges including child abuse resulting in great bodily harm or death after the crash along Highway 84 on Sunday.

Later, the couple said they got into an argument and Veliz-Vasquez demanded to drive Mingura home. When they left, they buckled Mingura’s 5-year-old daughter in the backseat of his green Honda car, which did not have a car seat, according to the statement.
At some point, Mingura said, the 5-year-old unbuckled her seatbelt, the statement added.
