Las Cruces Public Schools mourn the loss of superintendent Karen Trujillo
The leader of New Mexico's second-largest school district was hit and killed Thursday night while walking her dogs. Friday she was remembered by fellow teachers, students and local leaders as a champion for children.

The police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Edgewood Avenue when they learned a Nissan Quest minivan struck Trujillo. Police say the driver of the minivan remained on the scene to cooperate with police.
Scholarship fund set up to honor Superintendent Trujillo
The fund will be collected by New Mexico State University, as Trujillo was a proud Aggie. Trujillo's family plans to create the scholarship fund to support aspiring teachers.
Funeral services for late LCPS superintendent held Saturday
Community members gathered Saturday morning to pay their respects to late Las Cruces Public Schools Superintendent Karen Trujillo as a funeral procession went from Baca's Funeral Chapel to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces.
