A Santa Fe man was killed early Saturday morning when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve on Agua Fria near Airport Road and his car struck a guard rail, partially ejecting him through the window.
Francisco Chavez, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said. According to the sheriff’s office: Chavez, who was not wearing a seat beat was, was thrown into the passenger side of his Chevrolet Cobalt and bent the car’s door frame. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash but excessive speed is being investigated as a cause.
The accident occurred at about 5:20 a.m.
