According to a parent of one of the students on the bus, the kids are a part of AVID, a college-prep class, on their way to tour New Mexico State University campus.

The Roswell Independent School District says eight grade students from Mountain View Middle School were headed on a trip to Las Cruces. The school bus was traveling West on U.S. Highway 70.
