Wantagh Parkway closed briefly after multi-car pileup on Long Island.

It looks like the frightful weather is responsible for several car crashes on Old Country Road in Hicksville, the northernmost exit on the Wantagh Parkway. At least one person was injured.
The brutal snowstorm hitting New York appears to have caused several accidents just off the Wantagh Parkway on Long Island early Tuesday morning. The separate accidents resulted in a pileup at Old Country Road in Hicksville, the parkway's northernmost exit, according to New York State Police. "There was a multi-vehicle accident this morning," said s spokesperson for New York State Department of Transportation. "The state police are handling the investigation." The road was closed for about a half hour starting around 9 a.m., she said. Two of the cars from the pileup off the Wantagh Parkway Northbound are seen. "We're just trying to deal with the traffic right now to deal with the storm," Trooper Anthony Preston said. At least one person was injured and taken to Nassau University Medical Center. The severity of the injuries were not immediately clear.
