Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a man in North Amityville this morning.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
Police: Driver seriously hurt in crash on New Highway in North Amityville
Police said the crash closed New Highway in both directions between 46th Street and New Horizons Boulevard.
57-year-old William Brelsford was attempting to turn left from Cassata Drive onto New Highway at about 5:45 a.m., when his vehicle was hit by a southbound car driven by Deborah Jones, 38. Brelsford was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital for treatment. Jones and her 5-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital, but they sustained only minor injuries.
