The two officers in the van were taken to Long Island Manhasset Hospital with minor injuries, while the diplomat, who the Post identifies as Langford Banda, was taken to the 112th Precinct station. After identifying him as a member of the Zambian consulate, he was released, the spokesman said.

“Mr Banda has been recalled in national interest as our aim is to protect the cordial relations that we enjoy with the US. At the moment, the office is vacant but someone will soon be recruited to fill the gap,” he said.
Langford Banda's blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit when he slammed his car into the back of a parked NYPD vehicle in Queens, allegedly injuring two police officers. Banda, the second secretary of communications for the African nation’s UN mission, will not be facing any charges because of his diplomatic immunity.
