Suffolk County police say that 29-year-old Michelle McDonald was eastbound in a Mercedes sedan on Route 25A when her vehicle slammed into a Mack dump truck that was backing out of a driveway at 6 a.m. Friday. McDonald was brought to John T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the dump truck, Brad Parnell, 43, of South Setauket, was not hurt.
