Stony Point crash victim 'was turning his life around'.

As police investigated the cause of a fatal car crash on Gate Hill Road, friends remembered Christian Ascolese on Thursday as a good-natured student-athlete at North Rockland High School and a 21-year-old making his way through life.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday April 9, 2014 the Stony Point Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Gate Hill Rd.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday April 9, 2014 the Stony Point Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Gate Hill Rd. between Jobson Way and Blanchard Rd.

The victim, identified as Christian Ascolese, 21, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

The vehicle appeared to be headed westbound and left the roadway, where it collided with a tree.

Three other occupants were transported to Nyack Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Their names are being withheld pending notification of their family.

The accident is still being investigated, and the Stony Point Police Department is being assisted by Rockland County Sheriff’s Department and their BCI Unit, the Haverstraw Town Police Department, the NYS Palisades Interstate Park Police, the Ramapo Town Police Department Accident Investigation Unit.

In addition to the above, the Stony Point Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedic Service also assisted. The deceased was removed from the scene by the Rockland County Medical Examiners Office. This is an ongoing investigation.
