Two passengers in a pickup that rolled died after being ejected in a crash over the weekend on a county road eight miles south of Grenora in far northwest North Dakota near the Montana border.
Brandon Smith, 21, of Essex, Iowa, and Armando Gomez-Gutierrez, 41, of Las Vegas, died in the crash. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt. The driver, Zackary McKinzie, 22, of Colville, Washington, who also was ejected from the GMC pickup, and was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot. His current condition is not known at this time. The pickup was traveling southbound on Williams County Road 5 when it left the roadway and entered the west ditch. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle entered the east ditch and overturned. McKinzie was also not wearing a seatbelt, the report said.
